Site Discounted:
The site proposed was discounted through the Methodology and Assessment.
This is agricultural land lying on the west side of the public highway, Dunsfold Road just South of its junction with the public highway, Shillinglee Road. There is an Article 4 Direction in effect across this land, approved by the Secretary of State on 5th Mar 1985. The land has been used for grazing livestock. It overlooks a paddock alongside, currently used for grazing horses. The nearby road junction is heavily trafficked during peak hours, with commuters travelling to/from the A283 through Plaistow to/from the B2133. There is a Highway safety issue for entry/exit to the site due being in a 60MPH speed zone. There are no pavements to permit safe walking into Plaistow village, that has facilities and services. It is less sustainable than other Plaistow sites. Housing development in this location would be remote from Plaistow village and detrimental to the character and amenity of the countryside. For these reasons this site was discounted.
