Durfold Wood
Durfold Wood is a small and peaceful residential development between the villages of Plaistow and Dunsfold. It was built on land formerly belonging to the Brake Estate and came into being in the 1930s. At that time, land was available as front plots of 1/3 acre and 1 acre for back plots; these plots were sold for between £200 and £300 and the buildings were used as holiday or weekend homes. Today there are 53 private properties; a mix of family houses with a few bungalows, all with sizable gardens, either side of a private access road leading from the Dunsfold Road. Durfold Wood, as the name suggests, is surrounded by extensive woodland (some Ancient Woodland) and is next to the Surrey Sussex border path, which provides access to a whole network of foot and bridle paths. It is conveniently situated for easy travel to London, from either Witley, Haslemere or Godalming railway stations and for main shopping trips into Guildford, Chichester and Horsham.
